Eureka

Initially a railroad stop in the 1850’s, later part of the famous Route 66, Eureka is a growing area located by highway 44 with quick access via the highway to all areas of St Louis.   This area includes Eureka, Allenton, and sections that have been incorporated into Wildwood, Missouri, in particular the former areas of Grover and Glencoe

Eureka is probably known to most people as the home of Six Flags over Mid America, but it is so much more.  Besides the summer fun of 6 Flags, the city has a wonderful recreation center with fitness center and pool (The Timbers). In the summer, the city holds free outdoor concerts and movies along with an annual BBQ contest and Annual Eureka Days Event with carnival rides, activities, vendors and more!

With an abundance of wooded areas and parks, they have a city wide trail system that included Route 66 State Park.  The area boasts state, county and community parks among them Lone Elk ParkGreensfelder County ParkRockwood Reservation and Route 66 State Park.

Not just a summer location, Eureka has the only ski slope in the Greater St Louis area – Hidden Valley Ski Resort.  In the winter you will also find Santa’s Magical Kingdom at Jellystone Park Resort.

Taking care of our environment and the wild animals around us are themes throughout Eureka.  Here you will find a County Park with Elk, the Endangered Wolf Center and the World Bird Sanctuary.

Award winning Rockwood School District is responsible for the schools in Eureka.
